Jennifer M. Leitkam, age 39, of Pittsburgh passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Born on February 19, 1982, she was the beloved daughter of Bobbie Leitkam and Steve Leitkam; dear sister of Nick Leitkam; loving mother of Addison Deems-Leitkam and Carson Leitkam-Palcic; adored partner of Shannon Deems; also survived aunts, uncles and cousins.

I think she would want me to tell you that she was smart. I think she would want you to know that she cared deeply about the world, women’s rights, the environment and education. I think she would want me to tell you that she wanted to be a nurse and that she had to work incredibly hard at school because of ADHD. I think she would want you to know that she was one of the best people and such a good kind friend. I think she would want you to know that she loved big and loved hard. She would want you to know that her values defined how she lived her life.  She would want you to know that she really wanted to go to Vegas and go whale watching in Seattle. She would want you to know that she wanted a romantic BOHO wedding dress with wildflowers for the bouquet. I think she would want you to know that she was a good daughter and an incredible sister. She spent much of her young life caring for her brother.   Jen hoped and prayed that she could see Addison through high school. She was so worried about the children losing their Mom. The idea of breaking their hearts was intolerable to her. She loved decorating for the holidays. She loved coffee and being in the world. Jen would want you to know that she had a true gift for intimacy. She never hid from her feelings. You knew the person in front of you was the real deal. She was not secretive. And, I swear to God, she was hilarious. Oh, and I think she would want people to remember her as spiritually and physically beautiful, because she was

Jenny was a loving warrior to the end! She thought only of Madison and Carson. Her only thoughts was to leave then happy memories of their mother behind, and I believe she did that. Jen I will miss you and your smiling face. I hope you enjoy the whales, but I'm up in the air about vegas. Keep the coffee hot until is see you again. Love Uncle Denny

Words fail to express how much loved ones mean to us but as I was driving away from the memorial service, a song from an artist she took me to see from a concert she took me to for my birthday came on the radio, and I don't think it was a coincidence so I'll leave you with a lyric, my dear friend. For all that we struggle For all that we pretend It don't come down to nothing Except for love in the end And our is road that is strewn with goodbyes But as it unfolds As it unwinds You reminded me your soul is the one thing you can't compromise Take my hand We're gonna go where we can shine We're gonna go where we can shine
