Joan R. Dinan, age 73, of Peters Township, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 22, 2023.  Born in 1950, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Maher.
Beloved wife of 48 years to Charles W. Dinan Jr; loving mother of Melissa (Thomas) Pirosko, David (Amy) Dinan and Patrick (Erin) Dinan; adored grandmother of Alexis, Addison, Amanda and Avery Pirosko, Austin and Charles Dinan III, Eva and Summer Dinan; dear sister of Thomas Maher and the late Edward Maher.  Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Joan was always young at heart.  She was an athlete, an educator, an author and truly the life of the party.  She was passionate about fitness, loved the outdoors and was never afraid of a challenge.  She competed in many marathons and races all over the country and loved to travel!  She taught 2nd grade in Peters Township for 22 years and was known for her boundless energy and love for her students.  Upon retiring from teaching, she authored a children’s book and actively volunteered at organizations like the Washington Women’s Shelter, Meals on Wheels and local nursing homes.  Beyond all of her accomplishments, Joan was a cherished friend, mother and wife with a great sense of humor, bringing joy and smiles to those around her. It was always a pleasure to share a glass of wine or ice cream cone with Joan.
