Kathleen Hogue

Catherine “Kathleen” Hogue, 100 of McCandless, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023. She was born September 13, 1923, in Pittsburgh, PA. Loving mother to Nancy Truver and the late Janice Courson; mother-in-law to Donald Courson. Sister-in-law to Virginia Kerr; loving grandmother to Shannon Courson, Emily Courson and Laura Mangan; great-grandmother to Jack Mangan, Hadley Mangan and Parker Courson. She also has many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her siblings James Kerr, John Kerr, Elizabeth Wall, Mary Castle and Marguerite McIntyre.

Kathleen was a lathe operator during WWII before joining Bell Telephone as a telephone operator prior to marriage and motherhood. Later, she worked for Calgon’s credit department and retired from one of its successor companies, Beecham Inc. (which eventually became part of GlaxoSmithKline). She enjoyed singing, design, and reading. She remained amazingly active and sharp throughout her 90s and marveled at the changes in technology and the world in general that she’d witnessed in her long life.

Burial will be private, and a remembrance lunch will be planned for a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
