Kenneth L. Moir, Sr., age 82 of McMurray, PA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, January 31, 2020. Born in Edgeworth, PA, he is the son of the late Kenneth and Virginia Lee Moir, beloved husband of Debbie Mazzie Moir, brother of Elizabeth M. Carmelite, loving father of Ken Moir, Jr. (Francisca) and Dawn L. Moir, grandfather of Amelia, Elias and Nile Durbin and Clara Moir, great-grandfather of Elise Durbin, uncle to John (Melanie) and Donald (Betsy) Carmelite, and great uncle to their six children.

Ken was a graduate of Baldwin High School and a lifelong insurance professional, specializing in large commercial accounts. He opened his own agency, Kenco, in 1963, and he took great pride in building and sustaining the business for over 50 years. Ken was a Mason who served on the board of directors of Washington City Mission, where he was instrumental in helping that organization grow, thrive and touch the lives of thousands of people throughout Southwestern PA, which he viewed as one of his life’s greatest joys and achievements.

Ken had a gift for building rapport and friendships with people from all walks of life, from the construction site and truck garage to the boardroom and executive suite. He loved being a mentor, and he shared business and life lessons with countless younger people. Ken was a man of many and varied tastes who had a rare talent for finding and enjoying the best things in life, and for sharing those things generously with his wide circle of friends.

A gathering of family and friends with hot and cold refreshments, followed by a brief memorial service will be held from 1-4 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at The Amor, adjacent to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. No flowers or donations, please: your presence is enough.

I am sorry to read that Mr. Moir has passed away. Debbie, Ken and Dawn, you all have my sympathy. I am an agent today thanks to your hubby and dad! When I began as the receptionist at Kenco, he was an awesome boss who a couple years later made me get my license because I had potential to do more. Well, I have been blessed to still be an agent in the insurance industry and can’t thank Mr. Moir enough! God bless you all during this difficult time. Sincerely, Kathy Crump
