Our beloved Mary Colleen Needham Daly peacefully entered into heaven on October 29, 2023.  Mary Colleen was born August 15,1950 at 2:50 pm just ten minutes before her twin sister Kathleen Mae to Ethel and James Bernard Needham.  Both beautiful daughters were pure miracles weighing 2lbs each and a blessing to their parents.  Ethel and Bern were famously quoted stating that when the twins were born they knew they would be very busy at home so they sold their only car and bought a television.

Mary Colleen grew up in Scott Township, PA and attended Charters Valley High School graduating in 1969.   She then pursued her nursing degree at CCAC and was noted as Miss CCAC.  Following her time at CCAC she wed her friend Cheryl Augustine’s older brother Frank Augustine of Scott Township, PA.   The two newlyweds traveled across the east coast as church photographers until the birth of their daughter Kelly.  They then rooted themselves back home in Scott Township, PA where then they gave birth to their son Danny.

Mary Colleen was an avid lover of life and all the adventures it brought along.  Sometimes the adventures would be seen as being an active member of the South Hills Women’s Group, OLG Catholic church member, dancing at the disco, Brownie troop leader, narrator of the best bedtime stories, singer of many musical songs, and comedy club actress.  After her divorce in 1989, she became a single mother and she was then interviewed in the local newspaper for being a pen pal with Princess Diana.  The two of them had found a common comfort in their new roles as divorces that it resonated deeply enough to create a compassionate correspondence.

The years were full and never dull in the life of Mary Colleen. As her grandchildren have stated she always knew how to make others feel like superhero’s, princesses and stars especially if you were part of her world,  She leaves us with many of her famous sayings and stories to keep us imaging what her next adventure must be like in Heaven.

Mary Colleens legacy includes her devoted children Kelly Augustine Donnelly (Des Moines) and Danny Augustine (Chicago).  She is cherished by her son-in-law, Jason Donnelly along with her four amazing grandchildren Liam (Katelyn), Fiona, Owen and Maeve Donnelly.  She was deeply loved by her best friend and sister Kathleen Reich and brother-in-law Charles Reich along with her many nephews and nieces.

Mary Colleen leaves behind many others who shared he love of life, the arts, jewelry, Pepsi and ice cream.  Jimmy, John, Nancy, Vanessa and a group of her fabulous friends who reside at Favers Residential Care Home in Pittsburgh, PA.

Please note that Mary Colleen throughout her passing years was loved and  taken care of by a community of beautiful humans during her journey through life.  This care was given at Favers Residential Care Home, West Hills Care Rehab Facility and Sewickley Hospital CCU.  We will hold a memorial in her memory at a later date that will include a Kennywood Amusement Park Day where her life will be remembered with light and joy.  Mary Colleens family would suggest in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to supporting her fabulous friends:
