Mary Margaret (Margy) Woeber (nèe Williams), 86, passed away peacefully on March 23 at her home in Pittsburgh, surrounded by her loving family and caregiver. Margy was born on July 9, 1934 in Mt. Lebanon, just outside of Pittsburgh.

Margy was raised in Mt. Lebanon, where she graduated from high school in 1952.  She attended Duquesne University and worked for Eastern Airlines as a ticket agent for many years.

Margy married Robert Andrew Woeber, Sr. (Bob) on April 23, 1960, and raised three sons and one daughter.  She went back to work for Eastern Airlines when her youngest child started school and provided the family with many memorable vacations as a result. After leaving Eastern Airlines, Margy worked as a travel agent and continued to be a valuable resource for friends and family looking for the perfect getaway. Margy also attended online classes later in life and finished her Bachelor’s degree at the age of 65.  Her proud husband, Bob, bought her a convertible as a graduation present.

Margy was an avid golfer and member of the South Hills Country Club and the Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania.  She also took her skills and competitive spirit to the couples golf outings she enjoyed with her husband Bob and friends each Friday evening. She was a second soprano in the St. John Capistran choir for many years, making good friends and filling the church with beautiful music. Most of all, Margy was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took every opportunity to get together with her children and their families as they grew, and will always be remembered as the fun grandma she was to her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Margy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Andrew Woeber, Sr.; her parents, Lawrence Emmett and Marguerite Antoinette Williams, and her brothers; Lawrence, Donald, Paul, and Raymond.  She is survived by her loving children, Robert Andrew. Jr. (Michelle), Linda Louise (John), James Lawrence, and John David; her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday March 27,  2021, at St. John Capistran Church in Upper St. Clair at 11:00am with a lunch gathering to follow at Al’s Café, 440 McMurray Rd. in Bethel Park. If you wish to make a memorial donation, the family suggests the Red Door Ministry at Divine Mercy Parish in Pittsburgh. https://divinemercypgh.org/donate.

To the loving children of Margy and Bob Woeber, there are not sufficient words to express my sorrow at hearing of the passing of your Mom. Our friendship goes back to when Margy and Bob first began dating, and, of course, I first met your Dad in August of 1946 when our family moved just 3 doors away from the Woeber family. I was honored to be present at the wedding of your parents and joined with them socially at many trader's conventions over the years. To say I considered Margy and Bob close friends would be a true understatement. I share in your heartache but rejoice in the knowledge that now Margy and Bob are together once again, and enjoying par golf on the St. Peter Country Club. I will pass along the sad news to both my brother, Skip, and my sister, Patti, who knew Margy quite well. My love to all the Woeber clan. Dick Hufnagel, Denver

Dearest Linda, We are so sorry for your loss but know your mother is in a better place. Now we see from where your wanderlust and love for family travel derive. We really enjoyed your mother and the way she lit up a room with her warmth and smile. Love and hugs, Jeff and Nancy Ayers

What a monumental loss for all of you! I know that It feels that your heart has died. It’s not that it dies. It’s that those we loved so much, take with them... that little piece of our heart that we so freely gave. But, know...that someday...although it will take time...your heart will learn to beat again... Margy was a very special lady, always sweet and always so gracious. She has left so many wonderful memories behind for you all to cherish and so many lessons that only a Mother can instill...memories and words to live by...until you are together again. She will be missed terribly by her family..but, also by friends and others that she touched throughout her life. Sending so much love and prayers...

Margy and I attended first grade at St. Bernard's and went on to graduate from Mt. Lebanon High School together. She married Bob who lived three doors away from me and whom I considered a third brother. Margy will be remembered for her charming smile, her soft voice, which belied a keen intelligence and wry sense of humor. My wholehearted condolences to her loving family. Be assured that Bob is waiting for her and she's home safe. Patti Bloom
