Mary Margaret (Margy) Woeber

Mary Margaret (Margy) Woeber (nèe Williams), 86, passed away peacefully on March 23 at her home in Pittsburgh, surrounded by her loving family and caregiver. Margy was born on July 9, 1934 in Mt. Lebanon, just outside of Pittsburgh.

Margy was raised in Mt. Lebanon, where she graduated from high school in 1952.  She attended Duquesne University and worked for Eastern Airlines as a ticket agent for many years.

Margy married Robert Andrew Woeber, Sr. (Bob) on April 23, 1960, and raised three sons and one daughter.  She went back to work for Eastern Airlines when her youngest child started school and provided the family with many memorable vacations as a result. After leaving Eastern Airlines, Margy worked as a travel agent and continued to be a valuable resource for friends and family looking for the perfect getaway. Margy also attended online classes later in life and finished her Bachelor’s degree at the age of 65.  Her proud husband, Bob, bought her a convertible as a graduation present.

Margy was an avid golfer and member of the South Hills Country Club and the Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania.  She also took her skills and competitive spirit to the couples golf outings she enjoyed with her husband Bob and friends each Friday evening. She was a second soprano in the St. John Capistran choir for many years, making good friends and filling the church with beautiful music. Most of all, Margy was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took every opportunity to get together with her children and their families as they grew, and will always be remembered as the fun grandma she was to her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Margy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Andrew Woeber, Sr.; her parents, Lawrence Emmett and Marguerite Antoinette Williams, and her brothers; Lawrence, Donald, Paul, and Raymond.  She is survived by her loving children, Robert Andrew. Jr. (Michelle), Linda Louise (John), James Lawrence, and John David; her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday March 27,  2021, at St. John Capistran Church in Upper St. Clair at 11:00am with a lunch gathering to follow at Al’s Café, 440 McMurray Rd. in Bethel Park.
