R. Ray Melisko, 60, of Emsworth, formerly of Bellvue, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023. Beloved husband of Liz Melisko, father of Raymond, and son of Judith and the late Ray Melisko. Brother of Jake; grandfather of Kai Melisko; and uncle of 3.

Ray was born on February 16, 1963, in Pittsburgh. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1981 after graduating from Northgate High School. During his time in the service, he was recognized for his accomplishments and commitment to duty. He saved many lives and much property.

He met Liz in 1977 when he was 14 and she was 13 years old. They married in 1983 and their son Raymond was ceaseless source of pride and joyfulness to him. They shared many adventures together, from road trips on motorcycles to a Yankee Schooner cruise in the waters of the north-east Atlantic.

He worked for BNY Mellon for 24 years where he received many accolades and was highly respected. He was described by many as a mentor and the one to go to for any given situation.  His co-workers appreciated his enjoyment of teaching others from a seemingly fathomless vault of knowledge and experience.

Ray’s interests were quite diverse. He was immersed in electronics and computers. He had very eclectic tastes in music, literature and visual arts. But mostly he enjoyed sharing time with Liz and Raymond. Ray’s passing was sudden and unexpected. His only disappointment in life was that our civilization had not formed colonies on Mars in his lifetime.

Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Shades of Grey Sanctuary For Senior Dogs, 142 Stark Drive, Plum, PA 15239 or http://www.sparro.org.
