Robert D. Byard

Robert D. Byard, age 69, of McMurray, formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 18, 2023.

Born on May 3, 1954, he was the son of the late Marion and Dal Byard.

Beloved father of Rebecca (Mike Yakubec) Byard and Thomas (Jamie) Byard; loving grandfather of 5, Piper Yakubec, Max Stanley, Sophie Stanley, Coleman Child, and Brooke Yakubec; dear brother of Karen (Phil) Gregar, the late Jim Byard and Jeff Byard; and uncle of George Byard, Joshua Gregar, and Leah Gregar.

Robert was very dedicated to his job as a facility maintenance manager with many of the local shopping malls.  After retirement he found a love for reading, his favorites being Science Fiction and Suspense.  He had a love for music, playing drums and attending many concerts. Often referred to as “The Closer,” he loved to eat, never leaving any leftovers after any meal and always drinking a cup of coffee. Within the last year, he developed a bond with Caesar, his daughter’s dog who would spend hours sitting next to him outside on the porch. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, McMurray.
