Gaylord Wayne Whirlow Jr.

Gaylord Wayne Whirlow Jr., age 79, of Washington, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023. Born on September 23, 1943, in Westland, he was the son of the late Rouena and Gaylord Wayne Whirlow Sr.

Beloved husband of Susan Acker Whirlow for 57 years; loving father of John (Dawn) Whirlow and Stacey (Mark) Luffy; cherished Pap of Susannah (Ashton) Rees, Corey Luffy, Kyler Luffy, Jared (Jen Timmons) Whirlow, and Sarah Whirlow; great grandfather of Olivia Luffy; dear brother of George (Carol) Whirlow, and the late Charles (surviving, Aleta)Whirlow; Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gay loved to golf.  He attended Canon-McMillan High School where he played football, baseball and threw shot put. During his younger years, he enjoyed being outdoors, trap shooting, hunting and fishing. Gay was a proud US Air Force Sergeant, serving during Vietnam. Following his service, he began his career as a maintenance foreman for Consol Coal.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching John Wayne movies.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, February 20, from 4-6 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd.,  McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.  A memorial service will follow at 6 pm with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the veteran charity of your choice.
