Keith Valley McGough

Keith Valley McGough, 76, of Pittsburgh, passed away comfortably on March 23, 2023 with family by his side.

Keith was born on September 18^th, 1946 to Roger and Eileen McGough.  After attending West Mifflin HS, he later graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College. In 1969 he married Sandra Conaway of Upper St. Clair.

He held several careers over his lifetime.  He was very pleased to be named Director of Business Development for the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Later, Keith embarked on a professional motivational speaking career portraying the life of Theodore Roosevelt.  During this journey, he was hired to speak to various companies, conservationist groups, and to film a documentary in the Amazon.  In addition, he volunteered his time to speak at schools and for non-profit nature conservation organizations.

Keith had a deep passion for the outdoors both locally and globally. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping (any season), and foraging for leeks and morels.   Keith took great pride in sharing his forest-to-table cooking style with friends, family, and clients.    Some of his travel experiences included backpacking out-west with his kids, skiing, fishing on remote islands in Alaska or exploring the Dolly Sods in West Virginia.  He was an avid reader, a museful writer, and a joke teller.  Keith spent years working and attending various events at the Yogaville Ashram in VA.  Later in life, seeking spirituality was important to him.

Keith is survived by his daughter Jill McKeever (Chris), son Brent McGough (Lauren).  “Paw” had 5 grandchildren he loved deeply, Parker (14) and Brooke (10) McKeever; Sam (16), Becca (13), and Finn (11) McGough.

Immediate family will be celebrating his life privately.  Keith loved spending time in the woods. In his memory, consider taking a walk outside, observing the sights and smells of spring (his favorite), and notice that the time is “Now.”
