Cindy Judd Hill

Cindy Judd Hill, born Dorothy Irene Judd age 92, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019.

Born on March 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Irene Strensky and Vernon Claire Judd.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Albert Hill and Frank S. Youngk; loving mother of John Lancing Hill, Cherie Irene (James W. Lanagan) Hill, Albert Judson (Kathryn Viglietta) Hill, Jonathan Jay (Rhonda Hall) Hill; grandmother of Heidi Lynn (Joe) Morino, Timothy Judson (Brianna Spittle) Hill, Jackson Alexander Hill,   And Savanna Lynn Hill.

She is preceded in death by her siblings Myrtle and Raymond “Bud.”

Cindy had a passion for music, dance and performing. She was a music teacher at Chartiers Valley School District.  In 1966, she prevailed in a landmark decision to institute maternity leave for teachers in Pennsylvania.  This put her on a path to becoming an ardent  founding member of the South Hills N.O.W.  She then campaigned for ERA in Chicago.  She retired from teaching and struck up a new career in the performing arts, winning a title of Miss Senior America at the age of 76.  After being widowed in 1999. And then she married again later in life.

Sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I remember meeting her and seeing the two of you dance. Even though she lived to such an age, it’s still hard as our lives change and adjust to her not there. May you be comforted in your sorrow and may your sorrow be lightened by warm memories.

Cindy and I had many wonderful adventures together. She was a wonderful friend and an amazing activist. Paul and I miss her and Steve very much. Our love and sympathy to all Cindy's family.
