Anna Smith Edler

Anna Smith Edler, of McMurray, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2015. Having recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Born on March 8, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Philip and Maria Smith.

She was the mother of Mary Ann Crabtree and Barbara (Bob) Vokac; grandmother of John (Stacey) and Barbara Crabtree, Emily, Will, and Bob Vokac; and great grandmother of Bryce and Sydney.

She was married to Robert B. Edler in 1939 who served in the United States Army Air Corps. in WWII.  During the early 1940s she worked for the Cleveland Police Department under the directorship of Eliot Ness.  As her children were growing up she went back to college and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Kent State University.  After college, she began teaching third grade in the Cleveland Schools until her retirement, when she began traveling the world. Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.  Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.
