Carlena Y. Harris, 71, of Forest Hills, formerly of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 2, 1952, and is the daughter of the late Samuel Motley and Carol Lewis. Beloved mother of Lanesha Lewis; sister of Darlene (Stacey) Taylor, and Lamont (Kim) Lewis; aunt of Raina Kelly, Naomi Taylor, Shawn Edwell, Shay Lewis, Tamara Lewis, and Terrence Lewis; “Nana” to Deaja Williams and Dominique Lewis; friend to many others.

Carlena served as an usher at her church and as a volunteer at their Harvest Food Bank.  She would actively participate in many of the church summer revivals. She spent much of her free time volunteering to help adult children with disabilities or taking soup to the sick and shut in.  Many would remember her signature crotchet dish cloths she would make every Christmas to give to family and friends.

She was a 1974 graduate of the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and worked for over 30 years with American Airlines. She had zest for life and had an outgoing and colorful personality. She was a selfless woman who raised her brothers and sisters after their parents passed at a young age and she cared for everyone who came into her life. She is and will forever be loved and greatly missed by all.

Friends and family will gather on Friday December 8, 2023 at 2:30PM at Petra International Ministries, 235 Eastgate Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.  A repast lunch will follow immediately after the service.  Please send flowers to the church.

My heart is saddened by the death of my friend Carlena. Carlena and I worked at Joseph Horne’s together where she sold Shiseido Makeup and we were also neighbors on Idlewild Street where I met her children. She was a beautiful Woman of God. We shared some fun times together laughing and talking about life. I am so thankful that she would visit Rodman Church from time to time to fellowship with us and share that beautiful smile with us. My friend has gotten the ultimate healing. I will continue to pray for you Neasha for strength, comfort and peace. God’s blessing upon you as you continue to look to the memories of your mother.
