Charles Bernard Fetters, Sr, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 20th, 2020 while listening to the voices of his family here and in Heaven, expressing their gratitude and love for him as he made his way home.

Chuck was the eldest son of Charles Edward Fetters and Nellie Herline Karns (Paul).  He grew up in Bedford and Manns Choice, Pennsylvania.

Chuck was drafted into the army and then proudly stayed in for 23 years, serving many places in the world including Vietnam, Korea, and Germany.  After a short retirement he spent an additional 11 years in the civil service.

Chuck married Nancy Carolyn Hill on May 3, 1973 in El Paso Texas and immediately took on being a father to Nancy’s Ron and Lori.  After a few years they were blessed with a son Charles Jr (CB) and daughter Catherine.  The military took them to many places including Kaiserslautern Germany, Charlotte North Carolina, El Paso Texas, and Chugiak Alaska.  In each of the places they lived amazing friends were drawn to them with whom Chuck worked, served, played, fished, hunted, played cards, or simply just had a meal or drink.  His door was always open to friends.  In 1999 Nancy faced a cancer battle that he loved and supported her in until she passed away in 2006.  A few short months later his son CB passed away.

Chuck moved back to Bedford and took care of his mom until her passing, enjoying time with new and old friends and family in the area including his membership in the Bedford Valley Sportsman Rod and Gun Club.  He travelled the country in his latest blinged out Chrysler 300, briefly seeing the sights, visiting family and friends along the way, and always bringing gifts as he came.  He was an avid reader of thousands of books.

Chuck’s long-awaited reunion with Nancy, CB, his mother, father, sister Catherine and other loved ones will be full of gratitude, peace, and love.  He is survived by his brother Darrell Fetters (Debbie), his son Ron Fetters (Debbie), daughter Catherine Herron (Jason), grandchildren, Alex, Kayla (Adam), Benjamin (Maysen), Kirsten, Brooklyn, Cooper, and Charlotte, great grandchildren Lenna and Avett.

Since his own battle of cancer started, whenever someone asked how he was doing, he would always laughingly say “oh I’m just wastin’ oxygen.” But his loved ones will cherish every breath he took, all the way up to his last. Chuck’s deep voice and deep generosity will be greatly missed. He was a giant among men, and will remain so, always in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

Chuck was my 1st cousin. He was most likely my favorite cousin. I loved his ornery grin and his chuckle at his own sarcastic jokes. He was always & always will be "CHUCKIE" when I think or talk of him. (He hated being called that childhood name, LOL!) He always had the flashiest chromed up Chrysler 300 in Bedford. I knew it was him even from a distance. I enjoyed seeing him when his neighborhood had their annual yard sales. It was always a good excuse to stop in and say "HI"! He will be missed! Our hearts will hurt this Christmas as will all of us who knew him. RIP Chuckie!

Chuck was sunshine. I remember him and his children in my childhood. They are a greater part of my memories and will always be cherished. My dad would go to his home when I was younger and Chuck would always great me and my sister with a beard rub :). He had a golden spirit. He will be welcomed in Heaven with open arms. I will miss him dearly.

Blessings to the family. Chuck was an awesome guy. He was over the Supply Unit when I was in 59th Signal. God's enjoying his presence now. He will be for ever missed.
