Daniel Steven Oshop

Daniel Steven Oshop, age 71, of Robinson Township and formerly of Freedom, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.  Born on February 19, 1952 in Rochester, PA. Beloved husband of Darlene Oshop for 20 years; son of the late Pete and Gertrude Oshop (Petcovic); survived by brothers David (Cheryl), Dennis (Tana), Andy (Linda) and sister Dolly (Bill); brother-in-law of Robert Schaum (JoAnne), John Check (Jill) and David Dryer (Linda); also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. 

Dan retired from the IBEW Local 5 Pittsburgh and Local 712 Beaver where he worked for 44 years as a construction electrician.  He was an avid Steeler and Penguin fan.  He enjoyed many outside sports and activities, including snowboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, biking and kayaking.   He most loved biking and biked around the world for a year in 2000.  He visited 44 countries, rode 20,000 miles, all while raising money for the American Cancer Society. 

Dan owned and operated a Sunoco Gas Station in Beaver Falls for five years.  He also owned a Bruster’s Ice Cream Store in Greenfield from the late 90’s until 2005. 

Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike Robinson Township, PA  15205 from 2:00– 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care at 10:00 a.m.  followed by a burial service at Resurrection Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Road, Moon Township 15108.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in Dan’s memory.   www.alz.org/pa

Darlene, we are so, so sorry for your loss. We've lost a good one that DanO. I'm so sad to learn of this news, but I'm glad to have known him - and you! We hope that you are doing ok and are grateful for the memories we made in Pittsburgh with the both of you. When I think of an "I can" person, he's the first one that comes to mind. From the EFI of Odyssey to the Guinness Book award, he was a trooper, and always a class act.
