Diane Lucas Ott of South Park, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully among family on December 26th 2017. She was 78 years old. Beloved mother of Douglas Ott and Michelle (Charles) Ott Crookenden and grandmother to Patrick, Oliver and Grace. Devoted sisters Louise Schwartz and Dorothy Blagovich and sisters-in-law Joan (Allen) Davies and Thelma Lucas survive her along with many nieces and nephews. Her brothers John, Bill and Frank and sisters Lee and Carol predeceased her.

Diane graduated from the Shadyside School of Nursing and earned her BA in Education from California University (PA). She had a long career in healthcare and administration and a lifelong passion for the arts. Her career and heart was always in the service of others.

An accomplished artist herself, Diane shared her knowledge and passion as a docent with the Carnegie and Frick Museums and as volunteer for several Pittsburgh theaters. She was an adventurous traveler, visiting over 26 countries including Croatia, Egypt, India, Kenya, Nepal, Peru and many more. She had a special love for Paris, the city to which she returned with friends many times. Diane was fortunate to have many dear friends in the Pittsburgh community who were a constant source of joy and support during her life and through cancer. She was a compassionate and loving mother, sister and friend – she will be deeply missed by all.

Please join us for a remembrance service followed by lunch reception on Saturday, January 27th at Phipps Conservatory (Special Events Room) at 11:30 am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.

Diane was a very treasured friend. We were docents together at Carnegie Museum of Art for many years. We will miss her smile, and companionship. She was also a part of a group of four of us friends who traveled together through the years. Diane had so much energy, class and enthusiasm. I will miss her bright smile and effervescent nature. My favorite memories were exploring the halls of museums as well as city streets on our excursions. She was an experienced world traveler. There were so many special moments where her unique artful insights were generously shared. She was an accomplished artist. I was in awe of her breadth of knowledge and her ability to connect with people so warmly. Whether it be, as a docent or with strangers we met on our travels. She always made me smile, laugh, and was an inspiration. Her kind gestures and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten. Diane was wise beyond measure, often a shoulder of support, and such a good friend. I will be so grateful for the special memories we shared. Diane was truly one of a kind. I am so lucky to have had her in my life and to have called her my very dear friend. I love you Diane. Rest In peace.

Doug and Michelle, I am unable to attend the Remembrance Service for your Mom I'll be in Florida visiting my Granddaughter. I met Diane in August 1956 when we were first year nursing students at Shadyside Hospital. We worked and socialized together. After graduation we kept in touch with Christmas cards & notes The last 20 years we had lunch once or twice a year with a few other classmates. One time I was on a bus trip and Diane was our tour guide. I admired her adventurous spirit. She was a great person and friend I saw her for the last time in July2017 . We talked in October. So sorry for your loss but she is a tribute to a life well lived With Sympathy, Love and Prayers Ruth Gee
