Edward “Tom” Clemmens, age 74, of Canonsburg, formerly of Peters Township, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2023.

Born on December 15, 1948, in Pittsburgh, PA., he is the son of the late Edward J. and Genevieve M. (Lahoski) Clemmens, and loving father to his only child, Shannan Bisceglia (Clemmens).

Cherished brother of: Daniel, Jack (Kathy), James and Terry. Tom is also survived by many nieces and nephews, namely Sara and Steven, to whom he was very close.

Tom was a 1966 graduate of Peters Township High School. He then furthered his education with a degree in English/Journalism at Duquesne University, of which he was very proud. He worked as an office loans manager at Beneficial Finance for many years, where he met numerous lifelong friends.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, detailing cars, telling his favorite joke, “Why don’t cannibals eat clowns? Because they taste funny,” and spending hours on New York Times crossword puzzles (always refusing to use Google to cheat).

Tom’s love of the English language, writing, grammar and sarcasm were inexplicably passed down to his daughter. In Shannan’s childhood years, Tom never missed reading her a bedtime story; this remains her most cherished memory of him.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Through Reading, https://unitedthroughreading.org/
