Eleanor Mowry Gaige

Eleanor Mowry Gaige, 84, on Feb. 6, 2020 passed peacefully to the next life after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Susan Rita (Kernan) Mowry and a sister Mary Jane (Mowry) Kwitneiski. Her life was dedicated to caring for others, as a mother, dental aid, meals-on-wheels manager, and as a nurse.  Eleanor earned her registered nurse degree at age 50 and lovingly served her patients in hospital and home health care settings. She had a quick smile and pleasant manner with friends and strangers alike. She was gentle, sweet, brave and kind.  She loved babies and to read, cook, play scrabble and share funny stories.

A loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Eleanor will be dearly missed by many, including her children: Laura Gaige Daniel (Lamar) of Chiriquí, Panama; Pamela Ryan (Thomas) of Pittsburgh, PA; Robert Gaige (Lisa) of League City, TX and David Gaige (Deb) of Hawleyton, NY and her sisters: Elaine Dinola (Don) of Buffalo, NY and Kay Telfer of Cary, NC.  Also, her grandchildren Katherine Daniel Herane, Nicholas Daniel; Joseph Ryan, Kelly Ryan, Jeron Gaige, Brendon Gaige, Sarah Gaige, Ashley Gaige, her eight great grandchildren and many friends at the local scrabble clubs.

A memorial service celebrating Eleanor’s life and love of the Lord is planned for March 28, 2020 at 10 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Mt. Lebanon, PA.  A lunch and fellowship reception will follow the service.

Interment will in Binghamton, NY in August 2020.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the Bridgeville, PA or South Fayette, PA Public Libraries.
