Eve Mocek, 96, formerly of Santa Rosa, CA passed away in Strabane Woods of Washington, Assisted Living.
She was born in Cherry Valley PA, a daughter of Joseph and Magdalena Mocek.
Ms. Mocek received her undergraduate degree from Clarion State Teacher’s College. She then graduated with a Master’s Degree in Sociology and Economics at the age of 21 from Ohio University.
While employed by the Red Cross, she worked in locations across the United States. This sparked a lifelong love of travel. Eve visited many foreign countries. She always said do not wait too long to explore new horizons.
In her long career in the field of social work, she served as executive director of rehabilitation facilities for children and adults in the state of California.
Eve was the first to write and obtain a small business loan for sheltered workshops in the country. She also published a report detailing specific on-the-job training for special needs youth and adults in the San Francisco,
CA area. It was used as a model for other training centers in its time.
She thoroughly enjoyed living in northern California and after retirement participated in many volunteer activities in the Sonoma County area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John and Joseph Mocek; and sisters Rose Russell, Mary Malachosky, Magdalene Magliocco, and Ann Carlin.
Although the last of her immediate family, Eve is survived by nine nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Strabane Woods and Gateway Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care. Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.
