Frank R. Hixenbaugh, Sr.

Frank R. Hixenbaugh, Sr., 79, of Bethel Park, formerly of Lawrence, died Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born August 21, 1943, in Canonsburg, a son of the late John and Susanna Hixenbaugh.

After attending Chartiers-Houston High School, Frank joined the U.S Air Force in 1960 because of his love of aviation. He worked for 38 years at the Greater Pittsburgh Airport and retired in 2005 from US Airways as an aircraft mechanic.

Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years Janice (Jobkar) Hixenbaugh, a son Frank Hixenbaugh Jr. (Amanda), a daughter Sharon Mehalic (Bill), and three grandchildren:Matthew Mehalic, and Coleman and Campbell Hixenbaugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Salvadori and brother John Hixenbaugh. Surviving are sisters Freda McClain and Fran Zeszutek,and brother Charlie Hixenbaugh.

Family and friends will be received from 3-7 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. A private funeral and burial will be held for the immediate family at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
