Heather Lynn and Paul David Oravitz passed away unexpectedly in August 2023.

Heather was born on September 2, 1971, in Pittsburgh PA, she is the daughter of the late Theodore and Donna Talackine. Her family describes her as a driven, strong woman that could accomplish anything when she put her mind to it. She was dedicated to her career as a Community Development Manager for Plum Borough for over 10 years. Heather had a love of hockey and considered herself a hockey mom, she enjoyed her time outdoors, whether it was being active in the community, tending to her manicured lawn or playing pickle ball with her friends. When she put her mind to something, she would accomplish her goals and beyond. If you knew Heather, you knew she lived to work hard but play harder.

Paul was born on June 13, 1967, in Pittsburgh PA, he is the son of James and Rose Marie Oravitz. His family describes him as a social butterfly with a heart of gold who always had a smile on his face and made everyone feel welcome. He was a family man who was dedicated to his career as an Ultrasound Sonographer for over 30 years. Paul was an active member of the Plum community, taking pride in his involvement with Plum Soccer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. If you knew Paul, you knew he loved good food, good drinks, and a good time.

Paul and Heather were opposites who attracted each other, often characterized as perfect compliments for one another. After meeting in the healthcare field, their relationship blossomed and they went on to share 27 years of marriage, and a legacy of their love will be carried on by their two surviving children, Taylor and Cole Oravitz. They are also blessed with a large extended family and close friends.

Heather and Paul loved being with their friends and enjoying life together. They took pride in their involvement with their children’s activities; creating families within their sports communities. Every year, they would all look forward to their family trip to Topsail Beach.

The unimaginable loss of Heather and Paul has left a hole in the hearts of the family and the Pittsburgh community. At the request of their children, all services will be private.

In memory of Heather and Paul, do something kind for someone to encompass the qualities that they had as a tribute to the lives that they lived.

We did not know Paul and Heather, but heard about the tragedy and wanted to offer our sincere condolences to Taylor and Cole. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through right now at such a young age. Everyone has said such wonderful things about your parents that I imagine they raised strong, intelligent, courageous children as well. I pray the loving support of family, friends, and community will help you on your journey. I will pay it forward and do something kind for 4 days in honor of Paul. May God bless you and keep you safe. Jen Baker & Family
