John A. Sotomayor, age 94, of Somerset, PA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 5, 2023. John was born on October 18, 1928 in New York City, New York, to the late Rosalia and Juan Sotomayor. Cherished husband of Jane Sotomayor; Loving Father to Heather (Robert Stoddard) Sotomayor, Donna Sotomayor, Peter (Kelly) Sotomayor, Mark (Julie) Sotomayor, and Gail Sotomayor; Dedicated Grandfather to Julie (Joe) Laxton, David (Qiong Li) Stoddard, Michelle (Tyler) Vaughn, Elizabeth Percy, John Percy, Sara Sotomayor, Shannon Sotomayor, Ian Sotomayor, Drew (Madison) Sotomayor, and Collin Sotomayor; Dear Great Grandfather to Cali and Jett Laxton.
John was preceded in death by his siblings Josephine, Lydia, Paquita, and Ces and John was Blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John retired from the Air Force after proudly serving 27 years as a Senior Master Sergeant, 1st Sergeant. After retirement John became a published author.
John cherished his summers at Deep Creek with his family and his Maine fishing trips.
John will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Family and Friends are welcome on Tuesday October 10, 2023 from 11:00 am until time of service at 3:00 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.
