John “Jack” Joseph Murphy “Murph”, age 77, of Collier Township and formerly of Crafton, PA. Beloved husband of the late Marie A Murphy. Born March 12th, 1946 on the Northside of Pittsburgh. John was the loving father to Monica Murphy (Steve Dixon) and grandfather to Ian Murphy. He was the pet parent to Cleo, Lucy and Jesse. John is survived by his sister, Noreen and brother, Ed. Dad was the hardest working man. He started off working for family, was in the Plumbers Union Local 27 and had his own Heating and AC business. He then finished off his career working for Allegheny County as a Master Plumber and worked for Dunbar where he enjoyed driving the Armored Trucks and working the vault on Saturdays. Dad was always working. He did side jobs to make sure that his family never wanted for anything. After his retirement, dad’s health declined. His spine collapsed, but he overcame it. He had a seizure and fought through it. He was then diagnosed in 2019 with Parkinson’s and dementia. Those are what took the most toll on him. Dad had moved into a personal care home in September 2022. In December 2023, dad was hospitalized with Pneumonia, and it was then discovered from the type of work he did in the 70’s, along with COPD, his lung was not working properly. Over the last 6+ weeks his health continued to decline. On Saturday, February 3, 2024, I was called to sit with him as the hospice team said it was time. Dad passed around 7pm EST peacefully. Dad is in a better place where he can walk again, drive my mom nuts and be with Fred the cat. He is loved. Dad’s wishes were to be cremated with no service. In the end, he was simple and for that I am appreciative. Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

Your father was a great man and plumber. I was able to spend time working with him in the 1990's through Plumbers Local 27. We also worked many side jobs together in the early 2000's. Jack was a lot of fun and we had many laughs together. In everything we did, no matter the conditions or difficulties, he was smiling. I am so sorry for your loss, but happy that his struggle the last few years in over. My wife and I will pray for you during this period of mourning.
