Joseph M. Fuhrer

Joseph M. Fuhrer, age 92, of Canonsburg, formerly of South Fayette, passed away with family by his side on July 31, 2023.

Born on August 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angeline O’Block Fuhrer.

Beloved husband of 72 years to Lida Rosi Fuhrer; loving father of Jenny (Ronald) Zatawski and Joanne (Gil Mihalich) Fuhrer; cherished Opa of Ami (Drew) Jefferson and Stacey Zatawski; great grandfather of Aidan Garland, Morgan Jefferson, Wyatt Jefferson and Alayna Jefferson; dear brother of Maryann Dahle, Gloria Schmalz and the late Jacqueline Morgan and Edward Fuhrer; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joseph loved watching his western movies, listening to polkas, attending steam shows and celebrating with “traditions.” He retired from South Fayette Public Works department in 1994 after 24 years of service.  He was a proud US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War as a Corporal.

Friends and family are welcome on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 2-7 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546. Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at The National Cemetery of Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA 15107.
