Lynnwood “Andy” Robert Staley of McMurray, Pennsylvania, sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at the age of 62. Born on November 13, 1960 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he is the son of the late Nellie J. and Richard C. Staley. Andy was predeceased by his wife, Susan (Berry) Staley. He is survived by his beloved partner, Marianne Czapliewicz of Canonsburg, and his siblings: Susan (late Paul) Stiffler of Bethel Park, Richard (Joyce) Staley of Belleville, Nellie (Guy) Skone of Pottstown, Cindy Staley Barghausen of Canonsburg, fraternal twin Laura (Jeffrey) Delach of Canonsburg, Chris (Carol) Staley, and Shawn (Pam) Staley, both of Hickory. Andy also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A 1979 graduate of Peters Township High School with a vocational certificate in Masonry, Andy used his skill to build a lifetime career. As a meticulous and conscientious craftsman, he was proud of his work and showed dedication to every design he built with his talent, hands, and hard-work. He created countless beautiful structures and never left a job unfinished. Some called him a perfectionist. As one of the more senior men on the team, he spent countless hours teaching the younger crew members many valuable skills, such as: how early to start a job in the summer (too early according to some), how to mix mortar correctly, and how to set up scaffolding among other things. Many of his family members even worked as his laborers over the years, and Andy could be found teaching them to work to his high standards.
In addition, Andy enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved making memories with his family and friends at Lake Stonycreek, and spending time at the French Club. In the summer months, he and Marianne could be found enjoying the beauty and laid-back life at the lake. Everyone who knew Andy felt his big heart and giving nature. He was always a champion for the underdog and a friend to all. In addition to his kindness, Andy was a great cook and the best at running a barbecue grill. Most of all, his rough sense of humor, love for his family and partner, and generosity will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Family and friends are welcome from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 29th at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd, McMurray. A funeral service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Andy in a special way can give a memorial donation to a Bricklayers Scholarship to be established in his name or towards a memorial firepit and gathering spot at the cottage, a place he truly loved. If you choose to make a donation, checks can be made out to Shawn Staley or Venmo Andy Staley Memorial (@andymemorialfund). Please include a description with your donation indicating your preference, “scholarship” or “firepit”.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden loss of my cousin Andy. As we were growing up, our families would frequently get together. I really enjoyed those times with Andy and my other cousins. Even though, in our adult lives we only saw each other at the family reunions and Christmas parties, I always enjoyed talking with Andy. He was a super nice person/cousin and will be truly missed by all. With Love, Amy (and Eric)
