Born on May 30, 1951 in Canonsburg, Mark is the son of his late parents, Steven and Margaret Kuglar, formerly of Bridgeville.

Brother of Stephen Kuglar, Paul (Betsy) Kuglar, and Mary Ann (Dan) Welte

Also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Great Nephews

Mark was a Class of ‘69 graduate from Chartiers Valley High School.  While attending California State College, Mark met the love of his life, Donna, and they wed in 1973.

He was an avid reader of books, especially history books.  He enjoyed games – anything competitive was fun for Mark.  He loved to fish and play golf and was in fantasy football leagues, golf leagues, and had a crew of friends that played cards regularly.  That thirst for knowledge, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and more importantly his desire to share his knowledge with others led him to his passion of coaching.

What started with him coaching his own children in the 80’s grew quickly and before you knew it, this Kuglar patriarch was helping to build various soccer fields in South Fayette to grow the township’s program, his children’s favorite sport.  He even joined the Board of Commissioners for South Fayette Twp (Park’s and Rec) for a few years in the 90’s to help grow the township’s sports facilities.

Between the mid 80’s thru the early 2000s, when he finally retired, he had coached so many student athletes to play Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball that it would be difficult to count the actual number.  Awarded Coach of the Year a number of times as well as the teams making playoffs many times over – that should account for his success – and even if those awards and merits were not there, just ask any player and they’ll tell you what he meant to them and what he taught them.

Mark, affectionately called “Kug” or” Kugs” by his friends, was a hoot – always cracking a joke and his laugh was unique and infectious.  His fun personality and love of music often had him playing music around the house and he would even sing random songs that he had made up. He spent years in the 70s and 80s as an oldie’s DJ at various places.  He taught his kids to love generations of different music while also inheriting the skill to make up random songs and sing them out loud as well.

In the end, the part he was most proud of was the family that he and Donna created – their children and their grandchildren.  The time he spent with the family, both immediate and extended, was his favorite time, and he loved to watch life happen around him.
