Marlene (Whalen) Bour

Marlene (Whalen) Bour, 87, a resident of Cecil Township, was welcomely received by God on August 29, 2022. She was born in Pittsburgh on April 19, 1935. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul D. Bour, Pittsburgh , Pa.

Marlene was the loving mother of David B. Piercy (Mireille), of Paris, France, Karen Boyko (Gary) and Leslie Giannetta (Jim) both of Pittsburgh, Pa. Proud Grandmother to Emilande Piercy-Barbe (Jonathan), Benjamin, Jimmy, and Kate Giannetta. Great Grandmother to Andrew and William Piercy-Barbe. She is also survived by Grandchildren Frédéric (Nathalie), Laurent (Chrystel) Pierre-Guy (Laurence) and Neena (Christian), 10 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She will be missed by her entire extended family including her numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mae Naleski (Clifford) and brothers David Bevan and Thomas Whalen.

Marlene retired from Bethel Park School District at the age of 70 after working there 30 years prior to working at the United Steelworkers of America where she met her husband. She made many long-term friendships during these working years. She was an avid dog lover and often rescued dogs from various shelters. She also enjoyed vacationing, traveling and volunteering at the library.

Heartfelt thanks to Bridges Hospice nurses and aids and all those who took special care of our beloved mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Blessed Bag (www.blessedbag.org ) in her name.

Funeral Arrangements have been Entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray Pa. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Friday, September 16, 2022. A memorial mass will be held at St. Benedict’s, 120 Abington Drive, McMurray, Pa on Saturday September 17, 2022 at 9:30 AM.
