Mary Frances Russo Kanaskie, of Robinson Township, passed away at age 93 after a long and full life on Sunday, August 20, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born on April 1, 1930, in Waynesburg, PA, she was the beloved wife of George Joseph Kanaskie; daughter of the late Joseph C. Russo and Jennie Mancuso Russo of Waynesburg.

Loving mother to Melissa Kanaskie Cullin (Bob), John Kanaskie, Mindy Kanaskie, Mary Anne Kanaskie, Bob Kanaskie (Tracy).

Nana to Dylan Ciamacco (Ella), Elizabeth Dombrowsky, Wesley Ciamacco (Paris), Sarah Kanaskie, Jacob Kanaskie, Bryan Kanaskie and Kristen Kanaskie.
‘Great Nana’ to Helena Ciamacco, Santonio Lupi and Noah Ciamacco.

Sister to her late siblings Michael Russo (Vonnie), Joseph Russo Jr. (Phyllis), Anthony Russo (Carol), John Russo (Ann).

Sister-In-Law to the late Thomas Kanaskie (Sandra), Ronald Kanaskie (Karen), Judith A. Kanaskie Stoshack (Frank).

Aunt and great Aunt to many adored nieces and nephews as well as beloved cousin to many.

‘Mare’ as she was known, was an English teacher before raising her family, then was a Manager of Showcase Cinemas West when she was not volunteering in the community. Her hobbies were cooking and enjoying her family and friends.

Friends are welcome on Friday, August 25, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday August 26, from 12:00-1:00pm followed by a 1:00pm Blessing Service at Pittsburgh Creation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike McKees Rocks, PA 15136. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.ALZ.org.
