Reverend James H. Wente, age 86 of Bethel Park, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wedenday, December 5, 2018. Born on July 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Martha and Arnold Wente. Beloved husband to Helga Wente for 51 years. Loving father to Marlene (Frank) Speicher, Anneli Wente, Henning (Maryann Raleigh) Wente, and Eric (Kristina) Wente. Cherished grandfather to Maddie, Dylan, Megan and Sam Wente; Frank (Amanda Lynch) Speicher, Sara (John)  Speicher Archer, and Emma, Ben, and Stephen Raleigh. Dear great-grandfather to Frank Speicher and Joseph and John Archer and Phoebe Raleigh. Loving brother to Norman (Myrna) Wente and David (Susan) Wente.

Reverend James faithfully served congregations for over 50 years in Iowa, Texas and Western Pennsylvania. He loved playing viola and was a member of the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, Edgewood Symphony, and Des Moines Symphony. Along with his musical interests, he enjoyed traveling the world.

A memorial service will be held on December 15, 2018 at 3 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 80 Bartley Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.
