Dear Cheri, So shocked and saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. He surely was one of the best Pitt fans ever. I will pray that you find peace and strength during this time of extreme sorrow.

Rest in peace, Mr. Bittner. You were always one of my favorite teachers (middle 1970's). You always kept us interested and laughing. I still remember the humor you brought to the class every day -- mostly of the self-deprecating kind. One of my favorite quotes of yours was, "Sometimes you get the bear, and sometimes the bear gets you!" You often offered this parable as a warning when we were talking or carrying on too much in class. I also remember the golfing story you told us. According to you, while on the golf course with the two other teachers of the 'ABC" group, Mr. A and Mr. C., the three of you were mildly/indirectly struck by lightning. And you explained that this event was the principle reason that you all had ...er... less than a full head of hair. I never knew if that story was true or lore, but it doesn't matter. It always made us laugh. I'm 53 years old now, but I still have very clear memories of you and the fun we had in your class. It's also certainly true that despite the short time you were my teacher, and how long ago it was, you still had a very real impact on my life. You're a testament to the power and value of love and personality expressed through teaching. Thank you for caring so much. -- Caz "Len" Mostowy
