Sad to have him leave us way too soon. We will remember his songs, deep conversations about living life intentionally, and the way his eyes lit up when he smiled at some dry, sarcastic comment. He put down the tracks for worship that many of us are following decades later. We will miss him.

I was shocked and deeply saddened as I learned yesterday of Scott's earthly passing. Scott and I spent many hours cycling and talking after our rides (many 50 + miles). However, my most precious memories of Scott are our times singing in the Grace praise band. His songs are still some of my favorite worship songs and my heart smiles as I think of those precious times. What stands out as I think of our times cycling and singing, is Scott's character. His love of the Lord, his gentleness and kindness, his unassuming manner, his dry wit and intellect, and his gentle smile will stay with me on this earth until I experience them again with him later. What a gifted, humble, loving friend. My heart is heavy and my prayers are with you as I think of you Scarlet and the Baker family, and with all of Scott's friends as we mourn together. Just maybe in eternity, God will allow Scott to lead all of us and indeed all believers in worship of our Lord Jesus. I don't like the phrase "rest in peace" as Scott is not resting, he's singing!

Starlet, my heart searches the depths for words. I have none, except these few that I lay at your feet. Scott Baker has ever been a man fully alive. And God is the God of the living. Therefore, Scott was—and still is— a man of living magic; because, the places that words cannot reach music invades. And Scott is a master of both forms of magic. I still see the glint in his searching, blue eyes. I can hear his resonating voice caressing contemplative utterances. When we spoke, we were listened to with a logocentric soul more acutely tuned to our intentions than perhaps we ourselves were. When we listened, we were uplifted and expanded by reflections carefully weighed and finely sculpted. Words can bear a beauty that is heavy like gold. Scott showed us that. He’ll show us again.
