Thomas Bruce Griffith

Thomas Bruce Griffith, age 68 of Canonsburg, formerly of Monongahela, PA, passed peacefully with wife Joyce, by his side from a severe and long battle with aplastic anemia. He was fortunate enough to be matched with a stem cell donor from Germany but his health declined from chronic graft vs host disease, which took a toll on many of his major organs. It was an uphill climb in fighting for good health for a little over three years beyond his transplant.

Born on March 30, 1949, he was the son of the late Anna and Charles Griffith. He is survived by his children Angela (David) Pine, Thomas A. (Lesley) Griffith, and Eric (Theresa) Griffith; Grandchildren Kirstin, Gage and Samuel Pine, Jordan and Julia Griffith, and Chelsea and Joshua Griffith. He is also survived by his brother Curtis (Brenda) Griffith. He is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Charles (Ruth) Griffith and sister Dorothy Ann Griffith. He is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

His awards and honors include: Graduate of The Pennsylvania State University (Bachelor of Science Administration of Justice). He wed Joyce Falascino Lewis in 2011. He and Joyce rescued greyhounds while supporting Three Rivers Greyhound Association. He is survived by his step daughter, Pamela Joyce Greene and step grandchild Abigail Grace Greene.

His professions were in Criminal Justice; certified electrician, security system design & consulting. He had many hobbies, spent time volunteering, and was a former supporter of Boy Scouts of America (Cub Scout Leader) and Pittsburgh Blood Bank. He liked Home remodeling and building, Antique restoration, Gardening and Traveling to other countries and within the US was his goal post retirement.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Three Rivers Greyhound Association or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Canonsburg.

 

Friends and family are welcome Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm at Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317. 724 260 5546.
