Thomas Jay Smith, age 76 of Canonsburg, PA passed away April 4, 2021. Born on June 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Louise Smith. Beloved husband to Sue (Schlemmer) Smith for 53 years. Loving father to Heather Newton and Kristin (Darren) Stromock. Cherished Pappy to Zack, Addison, Cameron, and Cole. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Tom proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years where he was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. During his 30 years with US Steel, Tom advanced through various leadership positions with the accounting and finance organization and was a mentor to many. After his retirement, he worked at Price Waterhouse for 5 years where he managed an IT software program. Tom enjoyed playing tennis and pickle ball. He was an extraordinary grandfather and loved attending the grandkid’s sporting events and activities, and spending as much time with them as possible. He also enjoyed vacationing in Hilton Head with his wife and family. Tom will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private family memorial service will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.
