On February 19, 2020, William John Mikolich, at the age 90, was called home to our Heavenly Father. Bill was born on March 9, 1929, in Cleveland, OH and shortly after, moved to Strabane, PA. His father died before he was born; therefore, as a child, Bill was responsible for helping his mother, Mary Kocian, sell vegetables that she grew in her garden, by pulling a wagon full of produce along the streets of Strabane and Canonsburg. Later, Bill worked at Canonsburg Pottery, then became a Winder at McGraw-Edision.

On July 29, 1950, he married the love of his life, Doris Kalaskie, who survives. They have journeyed together for 69 years, raising a family of four daughters: Noreen (the late Dave) Ficht, Kathleen (Thomas) Bullions, Cynthia (William) Parry, and Nancy (finacee Randy Poness) Mikolich. Bill has four grandchildren – Nicole (James) Becker, Charisse (Conor) Mullen, Thomas Bullions and Matthew Bullions – and four great-grandchildren – Samantha and Logan Becker, and Nia and Aria Mullen.

Bill always said that his family was everything to him. He created many homemade tire swings and more for his children. He also loved to take his family camping. Bill enjoyed summers at Lake Erie on Preque Isle, where he was a friend to anyone who walked by. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making trees out of wire, making lighthouses, grafting Crimson King trees, taking walks on his “hill” and so much more.

Bill wished to have no visitation. A Mass will be celebrated at Country Meadows Nursing Home at a later date.

After the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories that we’ve shared with our loved ones who have passed, this is what keeps them alive in our hearts and in our minds, and they will continue to live on, through us. Our condolences.

Prayers, Love & Blessings for my Wonderful Aunt and Cousins. Uncle Will provided many, many wonderful memories for me as I was growing up through adulthood. Every time I hear the song, “ Hey Jude” I smile remembering your dad singing to me every time he saw me & his Cary Grant’s Judy, Judy, Judy make me laugh. The “Broken”, the Hill, dirt bikes, target shooting, Zip Lines before Zip Lines were a thing, walking to the Dairy for his milk, working at the “Station” on Sunday’s, vacations at Erie, fishing, flea markets, late night trips to Dunkin Donuts, and so many more treasured memories that I will never forget. Your Dad was my second Dad and I will miss him, but will never forget him. ????

Cindy, Bill and Family I bet you'll remember a lot of great things about your father, like the good times you shared and the funny stuff you laughed about together. Memories like those can never be lost. No matter what, he'll always be your father and you'll always be family. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
