Bradly “Vance” Breakwell

Bradly Vance Breakwell, age 49 of Fairchance, PA, formerly of Cortland, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

Beloved son of Joyce Hustead Breakwell, his loving caregiver, and the late James Veach Breakwell.

Loving brother of Brian of Fairchance. Adored uncle of Cody (Megan) Breakwell of Lima, OH. Dear nephew of special caregiver Jeannie (David Zaro) Berg of Spokane, WA, Mary Margaret Pletcher of Kannapolis, NC, Martha Breakwell of Belle Vernon, PA; cousins Melissa Pletcher of Concord, NC, Wendy (Dave) Witham of Fairbanks, AK, Rebekah (Randy) Foringer of Belle Vernon, PA, and Matthew (Toni) Breakwell of Belle Vernon, PA.

Preceded in death by paternal grandparents Martha and Jim Breakwell of Smock and maternal grandparents Opal and Wendell of Uniontown.

Vance was a graduate of LHHS and was active in the marching, stage, and jazz bands. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and his masters from Cornell University. He taught chemistry at Cornell for 16 years and taught organic chemistry at the State University of New York at Cortland for 10 years. The Ithaca Adult Hockey Association was one of his great pleasures. He played with them for 25 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on September 15, 2018 at the Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. A luncheon will be held following the service and all family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity of your choice.

I knew Vance for nearly 20 years. Vance was a really nice person, and will be greatly missed. So sorry for your loss.
