Rest In Peace Vance. Though we hadn’t seen each other in years, I treasure the memories of friendship that we shared many years ago. I prayed for you as you fought your battle. You and the rest of our circle of friends were special to me and a large part of my life. I will always remember your brilliant mind, your wit, your beautiful smile and your love of hockey. All the time at Eat N Park and the Gighland House. Great times! May God bless your family at this difficult time. You will be remembered fondly. Kathleen Loomis Joyce

My deepest condolences to Vance’s family. Vance was one of my favorite professors, his blatant honesty towards my performance and work ethic really resonated with me and helped me develop as an individual. I personally thought I annoyed him with questions as a student, and throughout that he was still the most helpful out of any professor that taught me. I wish his family the best.

Sending nothing but love to Vance’s family and close friends. I went to his office hours regularly in college bombarding him with questions that I probably should have known the answers to, yet he was always so helpful and patient with me. The combination of his wit, sense of realism, intelligence, and patience made him one of my favorite professors at Cortland. I feel grateful to have learned so much from him. No words can truly express the magnitude of this loss. My condolences to his family.

Vance was a good friend of the "Ithaca" hockey community. His presence on and off the ice will be surely missed, as he touch all with his friendship, passion for hockey and sports in general. We are deeply sadden and wish our deep condolences to his family. Sincerely, IAHA Board of Directors.
