January 31, 1935-December 10, 2023

Amelia “Millie” Catherine Fillipone, 88, of Robinson Twp., passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023.
She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene R. Fillipone; cherished mother of Gina (Rosario)Tirone, Marianne (George)  Froelich, Thomas R. Fillipone, and the late Catherine Fillipone. Loving Gram to Jessica (Michael) Christiansen and Michael A. Tirone and Great Gram to Lucas and Lily Christiansen.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Berlenge and beloved  sister of Josephine (Charles) Elliott. Also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Millie was her family’s beloved “Tootsie” and her husband always called her “Toots.”

Millie was a very dedicated wife, mother, and a dear friend to many.
She was an artist in her own right, earning many awards for her Gregg Shorthand and her sewing accomplishments in the 1950’s. Her neighborhood in the 1960’s became known for its Sunshine Club, one of a handful of women’s groups at the time. She was always welcoming to new neighbors on the street, and she spoke of her fond memories of her neighborhood friends often through the years.

Millie was the quintessential Avon Lady from the early 1980’s until 2012. She very much enjoyed visiting her friends and clients and gave so generously to the community through Avon.

Millie retired from NVR Mortgage in 2000 where she was known for facilitating an annual holiday food drive.  In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, traveling with her son, and gardening. She was an avid fan of her children’s activities in the late 70’s and 80’s, whether band, baseball, basketball, or softball. She continued that dedication in the 2000’s, watching her grandchildren play numerous sports every chance that she got.

Millie served on the board of the Sto-Ken-Rox Boys and Girls Club for years and was instrumental in many fundraisers to support the community.
Millie was deeply devoted to her faith and was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Parish for over sixty years. She volunteered for church activities and  was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Ladies of Charity for many years.

Millie’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving caregivers and nurses at AHN Hospice, Right at Home West Pgh. In Home Care and Apple Blossom Senior Memory Care in Moon Twp., all of whom provided care and support to give her a comfortable and dignified life this past year.
Millie and her beautiful smile will be dearly missed by family and friends.
