Eugene Guy Masciantonio, age 71, of Pittsburgh and formerly of Carnegie. The angels led him into Paradise on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Beloved husband of Rosemary (Baranowski) Masciantonio; son of the late Guy E. and Angelene (Sauley) Masciantonio; brother of Mary Jane (Andy) Slegal and Charlene (John) Silipigni; proud uncle of Calvin (Sarah) Slegal, Moirea (David) Jasper, and Jovanna Silipigni; great-uncle of Anthony and Natalie Slegal; and also godfather to many. Eugene was a graduate of St. Luke’s, Carnegie, Canevin Catholic High School, and Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH where he was a brother of the TKE fraternity. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish (Blessed Trinity) in Hays, PA where he took pride as a Eucharistic minister and member of the Holy Name Society. Gene was an avid skier crossing many mountains. With utmost importance was his love for his family, his paramount faith in the Lord, and his will to celebrate life. Private arrangements by Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township.

My cousin Gene was a gentle giant. Always lending an ear to many people. I will miss seeing him at our family reunion. He loved to talk to anybody that was willing to listen. I always thought he was such a cool older cousin. I remember one summer being a young girl of 11 going to Clarion with his best friend Joe. What memories! Gene always encouraged things happening in your life on such a positive manner. Never a mean word to say. Loved my mom. Loved his family and especially dear Rose. I am so sad as he is the 2nd of my cousins to pass. I’m sure his mom snd dad and all of his family were there to greet him. RWG cousin until we meet again. Cindy

Dear Rose, Charlene, John, Jovanna, and family, We are so sorry for the loss of Gene, a loving and supportive brother, a loving and caring husband, a fantastic son. and the kindest person who truly loved life and cared about others with sincerity. I remember enjoying speaking with him on many occasions at the Masciantonio home when I visited my closest friend Charlene. We always laughed with Gene. He had a great sense of humor and always gave advice as a big brother always does. I was always glad I was able to catch him before he went golfing or left for any of his numerous activities. He always had that knack to leave you with a positive outlook on life. I also remember the happiness in the family for his marriage to Rose- a perfect and beautiful partner for him. He always made his family and parents proud of him. He will be sorely missed but will never leave the hearts he touched. God bless all of you and comfort you at this time. My deepest sympathies to the family of my friend Gene. He and I grew up together in our Colecrest neighborhood. We rode our bikes, explored the woods, played in “the circle,” marched in parades, camped with the Boys Scouts, played Little League, and went to St Luke church and school together. We called ourselves “cousins.” He and I had a special relationship. My friend Gene will always be part of my life.
