Joseph Raymond Karnuta, age 89, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on October 3, 2020. Born on November 24, 1930 in Cleveland, OH, the only child of Doris (Pattison) and Joseph Karnuta, Joe is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Patricia, children Tom (Karen) of Salida, Colorado, Nancy Triscuit (Todd) of Cranberry Twp,  Daniel (Karen) of Fairview, Texas, and Beth Malik (Dale) of Atlanta, Georgia. Joe was also the cherished grandfather of Aly Toth (Jake), Lanie Greenbaum (Jake), Kyle and Mac Karnuta, and Aaron Karnuta, as well as the loving great-grandfather of Teagan and Riley Toth. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Joe served as a corporal in the U.S. Army where he was a medic during the Korean conflict and was awarded the Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal. Joe had a long and successful career with Deluxe Check Printers, Inc. starting as an apprentice printer in the Cleveland, Ohio plant and rising to the level of plant supervisor in Pittsburgh where he helped to open the office in 1966. Joe’s hobbies revolved around his children and included coaching baseball, football, hockey and soccer, and teaching/playing golf with his sons and in the church league. Joe was a skilled woodworker and photographer in addition to his main roles as a great husband and father. Joe will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private burial will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN where a memorial page has been created for Joe.
