Paul Joseph Chak, 77, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at home surrounded by loved ones, after a battle with cancer. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Chak and Anna T. Chak (Jankauskas). He is survived by his wife of ten years, Nancy Aquino Chak; former wife Jeannine Clark Chak of Montgomery, AL along with their only child, Andrea Chak (Tyson) Bazzell and two granddaughters, Daphne Bazzell (2 years) and Lilly Bazzell (7 mo) of Montgomery, AL; sister, Marie (Michael) Asztalos of Monroeville, PA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He served as a Sergeant in the US Air Force for 4 years working as an engineer, stationed in Montgomery, AL, followed by 2 years of US Air Force Reserves. He continued working as an engineer until his retirement. He enjoyed sports and was very athletic, excelling at basketball, baseball, softball, boxing, and shooting; but he found his true passion when he started playing tennis in 1976. He was self taught, without ever receiving a single tennis lesson. He went on to dominate as a local tennis champion for 44 years with over 200 trophies, and won the title for the final tournament he ever played in 2019.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 10 AM at St. Valentine’s Catholic Church, 2710 Ohio Street, Bethel Park, PA 15102. Burial will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery with full military honors.
