Dear Phyllis and family So sorry for your loss. I have a lot of good childhood memories of Russ. He was truly a good and fun person and had many talents. Even though he was my brother's friend, I considered him my friend also. Sincerely Jim and June Shemerdiak.

Our deepest condolences and sympathy on the loss of one of the nicest people we have had the honor and pleasure of knowing. You will be sorely missed. Sam and Joanne Caruso and Angie, Sierra & Bob. On a more personal note, I want to say that words can't always express the friendship and respect between people. The memories are many that can be recounted with fondness--the summer trips to Myrtle, the winter trips to Nemacolin, the many in-depth talks on everything from childhood memories to the mysteries of the universe and everything in between. I always enjoyed discussing things with Russ and was fascinated with the many stories of his younger days and the way things were back then. I always told him that my own dad and he had the same kind of tough upbringing during those trying times, only on opposite sides of the Atlantic. We always enjoyed our gin games and I am just very grateful that I got the chance to spend the time with him while he was at Shadyside Hospital, just keeping him company, sharing stories, a few laughs and many games of Gin!(He always found a way to beat me at Gin!). I always said that after I lost my own dad, it helped having Sam and Russ around to help lessen a bit the feeling of the loss of dad. Russ was indeed one heck of a great guy and I am glad to have had the pleasure, honor and privilege of time spent with such a man. I will raise a toast to Russ next time I have one of the things he always enjoyed--a nice cold Michelob Ultra! I have enjoyed knowing you, old friend. Rest in peace...your Gin buddy now and always, Bob

Wishing our deepest sympathy and condolences. Russ was a genuinely nice man with many interesting stories. We did not gather often, but when we did he always brought warmth and laughter upon the room. Every year I looked forward to discussing his ideas on his craft in woodwork with him. He was very talented. Rest in peace, love, Avi, Sophie, and Ben.
