Shirley Maria Liapes, age 84 of Canonsburg, PA formerly of Meadowlands, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Born on October 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Philomena and Michael Bellino. Beloved wife to the late John Liapes. Loving mother to Sophia (R.T.) Bell. Cherished grandmother to Sarah Liapes Ambrose, Erin Bell and Todd Bell. Dear great-grandmother to T.J., Presley, Kole and Lincoln. Dear sister to Joanna Renko and Kitty Kentros. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. Shirley was also predeceased in death by her son; Anthony (Christina) Liapes, and her brother; Richard.

For the past five years, Shirley resided with her boyfriend, Curtis Marcase of Houston, PA. She enjoyed working at Sarris Candies for nearly 30 years. Shirley was in the choir in the Greek Orthodox Church in Canonsburg, PA for all of her adult life. For the last five years, she was a member of the Methodist Church in Meadowlands. Shirley loved to sing, dance, crack one line jokes and be as ornery as she could. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 2 PM – 8 PM at Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. A service will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Meadowlands Methodist Church, All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, or a charity of your choice.

Aunt Shirley was a super aunt . When I was a kid she always scared me with the "Boogie Bug voice " and everyone remembers countless 4 th of July parades and her Ham Barbecue and Lemon Blend . She will be greatly missed . Love you Aunt Shirley .
