Bernadette Lebakken, 67 of Shaler Township, formerly of Sharpsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023. Beautiful and loving wife of 47 years to Wayne Lebakken. She was born in Pittsburgh on December 30, 1955, the daughter of the late Bernard and Teresa “Tia” Persichetti. Devoted and cherished mother of Bradley (Victoria) Lebakken, Danielle (William) Wineberg, Dylan (Tayler) Lebakken and Gabriella (Conner) Haberman. Caring sister of Julia (Tim) Baker and Bernard (Jeannette) Persichetti. Loving Nunny to her 7 “grandbaby angels” Ezekiel & Crosby Lebakken, Wesley & Preston Wineberg, Nora, Dylan Jr., & Theodore Lebakken. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Bernadette loved spending time with her family. “Family togetherness” as she called it. Her favorite place to be was the beach where she enjoyed taking walks with her husband and eating at her favorite restaurants. Bernadette was known for her strong relationship with the Lord, her servant heart, and generous spirit. She was an inspiration to many. She lives on in the lives of the family she has built. Bernadette was also a dedicated employee for over 20 years at Duquesne University. She cherished serving the School of Education.

Dear Lebakken family I am extremely sorry for your loss. I know Bernie for 5 years. Her smile and warm pleasant welcome to the SoE- Deans Office is remarkable. She made us, comfortable and feel like DU-SoE is second home.. I also had the opportunity to teach Gabriella, this summer.. She is so polite hard working and gentle. I feel very connected.. with you all. May you get peace ! With peace and love Nandini Bhowmick

I just met Bernie last weekend and I immediately knew she was a special, kind, gentle soul. It was a great honor to care for her and her beautiful family during those last few days. I hope that you all find yourselves surrounded by peace and love as you navigate through the journey ahead. We are all holding you up in prayer.
