Francine DeCou Arre, age 62, of Pleasant Hills, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on August 24, 2020.

Born on September 29, 1957,  she was the daughter of the late Ursula and Samuel DeCou.

Loving mother of William “Billy” (Victoria “Tori”) Arre; dear sister of Erika Sullivan and Jackie DeCou; and aunt of Steven (Daniela) McMahon and Lindsay Sullivan.

Francine had a love for travel. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed watching her son’s sports career grow over the years. She was a proud supporter of local animal rescue organizations, and even adopted two dogs; Skeeter and Peaches. She was a strong advocate for many charities, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to one of her favorite charities; The Susan G. Koman Foundation, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Alzheimers Foundation, The Brain Aneurysm Foundation or any animal rescue.

Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at pittsburghcremation.com.

Such a beautiful person, both on the inside and out! PERFECT example of the meaning of love and life as it was meant to be.

I had the pleasure of working with Fran at Direct Travel and was saddened to hear about her passing. She was a fantastic co-worker and as I sit here and write this I am reflecting back to a company event where Fran and I sat together at dinner. We got into a great conversation about dogs and both of our experiences with the loss of them and the grief that comes along with that loss. I'll never forget what she said to me as we both reminisced - 'you can't experience grief without first experiencing love'. My sympathies to her entire family and friends - may you find peace and comfort during these difficult days.

I had the pleasure of being one of the kids in the neighborhood raised by her. In our group of friends everyone's parents were such a big part of kids lives, it did not matter if I was at Fran's house or if her son Bill was at my house our parents always took care of us and there was never a time that I was at her house as a kid and she didn't order the boys pizza and have great sweet iced tea made! Playing sports with Bill growing up and always having our parents watching us and cheering us on always meant the most and Bill and I had some of the best games and experiences with her watching us. So my thoughts and feelings are with you Bill and your family. I miss and love you guys.
