Joanne Kobosky

  • On June 14, 2022

Joanne Kobosky, age 54 of Castle Shannon, passed away suddenly on June 10, 2022.

Loving daughter to Lucille Kobosky and the late Robert A. Kobosky.  Dear sister to MaryAnn (Darrell) Gray, Dianne (Albert) Metro, Luann Quigley and Robin (David) Keefe. Also, survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Joanne was a lifelong Castle Shannon resident who loved three things: her family, her job and the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Joanne had many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, but her great nieces and nephews were the center of her world.  She loved showing pictures of them to her friends, taking pictures at their birthday parties and spoiling them with gifts. Joanne worked as an Accountant for BallyMoney in Pittsburgh. Her co-workers were her extended family, and she loved them dearly.  Finally, those who knew Joanne knew she loved the Pittsburgh Penguins.  She has been a season ticket holder for the last 34 years.  From autographs, pictures, parades, games and personal player friends, Joanne’s heart belonged to those Penguins. On Friday, June 10th, the Pittsburgh Penguins lost their biggest fan!

Friends will be received on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 2-4 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.  Please join us in honoring Joanne by wearing Black and Gold/Penguin attire.

Memorial contributions in Joanne’s name may be made to the Mario Lemieux Foundation, Two Chatham Center, Suite 1661, 112 Washington Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219www.mariolemieux.org or to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation www.pittsburghpenguinsfoundation.org.

Dear JoJo, I miss you; I am going to miss spending holidays with you, trying to teach you about my computer games and hearing you talk about the Penguins. I will miss you. Your Great Nephew Nathan

Jo, I will miss you terribly. You were always my plus one at every event for the Penguins. Our trip to Detroit was so much fun and one nobody will forget us! I love you like my own sister! Going to work will never be the same again. Dee Dee, and family, I'm so very sorry you lost such a wonderful person. I know you will miss her so much.

Joanne, You left us way too soon, but the memories we shared, I will hold forever in my heart. I was proud to be your big sister, you completed our family. We shared many things, the love of our family, the love of your godson Matthew and our love of the Pittsburgh Penguins. I cherish the moments of doting over you as a little girl and then watch you do the same to Matthew. Matthew and Ryan loved spending time with you especially the 2 weeks you would stay at our house when Mom and Dad went to Idaho. We spent many years cheering the Pens on in the Civic Arena and were extremely lucky to witness the Pens winning their first Stanley Cup. The seven crazy fans in section D24 proudly held the CHAMPS! sign. The loss of Badger Bob, winning the cup again in his honor, the road trips, the heart break of players being traded, the hockey parties, the trips to the airport to welcome Mom and Dad home from vacations and the Pens home from big wins, all treasured memories. Matt and Erin's wedding and again sharing our love for their children, Charlotte and Ben. We drifted apart, but my memories with you will never fade. As Bryan Adams would sing, “Those were the best days of my life”. I love you Joanne and will miss you. Rest in Peace, Luann
