Stanley C. Heckathorn, age 72, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Beloved husband of Lynn (Morgan) Heckathorn for 49 years; loving father of Debra (Greg) Delach; grandfather of Elizabeth Delach and bonus grandson Matthew Delach.

Born in Butler, PA to the late Jack and Kay Heckathorn, Stan and his sisters Cheryl Fry and Debra Heckathorn moved approximately eleventy million times, finally settling down in Bradford, PA.  After receiving his degree from Penn State, Stan switched his allegiance and worked for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for 25 years.  Stan and Lynn then moved to Peterborough, NH to be closer to his sisters, and try out some different career paths.  After 20+ years in the granite state, Stan’s granddaughter convinced them to move to Pittsburgh, PA.

Stan loved to golf, fish, and clean the kitchen. He also enjoyed showers, pacing, the sun and buying things that no one would ever need.  We will all miss his kind heart and bad jokes.

Celebrations of Stan’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township. Memorial contributions may be made to a local animal rescue of your choice.

Dear Lynn and family, I knew the first time I met Stan that he and I would click. Not only did he “get” me but he also had a great talent for starting captivating (and inclusive) conversation no matter where we were. He will be missed and remembered always ❤️

Lynn, I learned of Stan’s passing just this week and I was so sad to hear it. Stan had a wonderfully, generous spirit. I met him so many years ago when he had an office across from mine. My thoughts are with you and your family.
